Clear paths ahead!
The pathways and trails that connect us are the heartbeat that truly connects our community. I am so pleased to say that pathways in Father Richard Ward Park are now being cleared of snow as part of the City Road Crew’s regular beat.
Improving our pathways, sidewalks and neighborhood connections is a priority for me and I was very happy to see this critical piece of infrastructure expanded and renewed for all users, all year round.
It takes time and a lot of hard work to get a pathway added to the winter maintenance schedule. For starters, it must meet specific width and weight (snowplows are heavy) requirements, as well as connect two distinct areas. The pathways through Richard Ward Park have been in the works for a long time and all hung on the repaving and expanding of the pathways to accommodate the weight and width of snow equipment. When that was completed last year, it set the stage for me to secure a commitment from City crews to include this pathway portion to their plow routine.
