Did you know that Innes Ward has an incredible 18 outdoor community skating rinks, many of which are maintained by volunteers? Some are boarded, large rinks, others are puddle rinks; they all provide a much-needed outlet for the community to skate and play in the great outdoors.
The beauty of these rinks is that for most residents they are located within a short walk from home. To find out about your local rink location and conditions, visit: https://ottawa.ca/en/recreation-and-parks/skating/outdoor-rinks.
Hundreds of passionate residents, from across the City, donate their time and effort to maintaining rinks for public use. I want to give a huge shout-out, and thank you, to our many Innes Ward volunteer operators for all of their hard work and dedication. Without them, it would not be possible to enjoy these wonderful amenities.
For those interested in getting involved in supporting their local rink next season, you can reach out to seasonalrecreation@ottawa.ca. In the meantime, make sure to get out on the ice before the end of the season.
