Every year on November 1st, I co-host the Chapel Hill Pumpkin Parade with the wonderful École élémentaire catholique L’Étoile-de-l’Est Parent Council, and it has quickly become one of the community’s most cherished events.
Held at Louis Perrault Park, the Pumpkin Parade is a magical way to keep the Halloween spirit alive just a little longer. Families from across Chapel Hill and beyond are invited to bring their carved pumpkins and help transform the park’s pathway into a glowing trail of creativity and seasonal cheer.
To make the magic happen, residents to drop off their pumpkins earlier in the afternoon on the day of the event. We provide the candles and take care of composting all pumpkins afterward, making this a fun, family-friendly, and environmentally conscious celebration.
As the sun sets, the walk begins! Whether you’re dressed in costume or simply bundled up for a cozy evening stroll, you’ll join neighbours and friends for a beautiful walk along the illuminated path. It’s a chance to admire the creativity of our community, share smiles, and enjoy the crisp autumn air together.
This event is free and open to everyone, and it’s a wonderful way to connect with others while celebrating the season.
