It’s good to be back! After a brief pause in our regular community newsletter updates, I am so glad to be connecting with you all again. It is a genuine privilege to continue serving as your Councillor and representing our wonderful neighbourhood. You might notice I am avoiding any specific post-election talk here. That is by design, since under City rules, post-election newsletters must strictly avoid discussing the campaign, candidates, or even directly thanking residents for their support. So, while municipal guidelines keep me from getting too specific, please know how deeply honoured I am to continue working on your behalf. Our community is such a special place, and my team is ready to dive back into the local issues that matter most to you. In this issue, you will find seasonal updates, Halloween safety tips for our trick-or-treaters, and details on our upcoming Pumpkin Parade at Louis-Perrault Park.My door is always open. Whether you have a question about City services or an idea to share, please reach out to my office anytime.I look forward to seeing many of you out and about this fall!
Hitting the Ground Running for Ward 2
The official swearing-in ceremony for the new City Council takes place in mid-November, marking the formal start of our upcoming term. While the official ceremony is still a few weeks away, my real work for our community is already well underway.I have already scheduled meetings with the Mayor, senior staff, the City Clerk, and the City Manager. These early conversations are crucial for setting the tone for the next four years and making sure our Ward stays at the centre of City decision-making.It is imperative that I move quickly, as the 2027 City Budget process is going to be starting very soon. It is essential that our community’s voice is reflected in those financial decisions from day one. I have heard your priorities loud and clear during my time out in the neighbourhood:
- Reliable Transit: Pushing for better, more dependable transit services across our area.
- Fiscal Discipline: Demanding accountability for every taxpayer dollar spent at City Hall.
- East-End Investment: Continuing to secure infrastructure improvements and city investment for Ward 2 and the east end.
These priorities are my marching orders as we prepare for this new term. I am energized, prepared, and ready to get to work delivering real results for our residents. As always, I welcome your feedback and ideas as we shape the upcoming city budget together. Stay tuned because I will be sharing the many opportunities for residents to have their say on the budget as soon as that information is available.
