Happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
This is a magical time of the year, as families and friends gather to celebrate the season and welcome a new year filled with the promise of hope and happiness. In my house, I’ll be preparing a Christmas ham with all the fixings, playing board games with the family (Clue is my favourite!), and going for long hikes in the snowy woods throughout our community.
Another Dudas family tradition is to find ways to give back and to help those in need. One way we do this is by donating to local charities and volunteering. In the past, I have contributed to groups like the Shepherds of Good Hope, the United Way East Ontario, the Orléans Cumberland Resource Centre and the Eastern Ontario Resource Centre, one of our local food banks, such as the Community Compassion Centre or the Life Centre Food Bank, and many more.
While my family is fortunate to celebrate the holidays together and in comfort, there are members of our community who may not have those same opportunities. There are many charities providing services and supports in our community that always appreciate support, especially this time of year. If you are in a position to give back this holiday, please consider doing so.
I would also like to take a moment to recognize, and express my gratitude, to all the first responders and frontline workers who will be on duty and working this holiday. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and I hope you find some time to relax with your loved ones.
To all the residents of Orléans West-Innes, I want to wish you all the happiness in the world this holiday season. From my family to yours, happy holidays!
