It was extraordinary to witness the level of engagement from residents across Orlèans at the January 25th Orlèans Corridor Study public meeting.
The Study is the culmination of decades of work by many key stakeholders in the community. I want to extend my gratitude to all those who have contributed to getting the City to this point.
This Study has evolved immensely based on the input from residents and local businesses. It continues to evolve thanks to that ongoing engagement.
Now, I recognize that a Study is just a document unless it’s acted upon. We’ve seen that happen to similar plans in the past. The objectives laid out in the Study will require involvement, and investment, from the City, businesses, community groups, and partners. With the impending arrival of LRT to the east end, the opportunities to achieve the Study’s objectives are within grasp, such as improved public realm spaces, revitalized streetscapes, burying the hydro lines on St. Joseph, to name a few.
Thank you again to every group, person, and elected official who has played an instrumental role in getting this Study to where it is today. I cannot wait to work with you all to implement it!
